Thursday Recruiting Notes

Since Mario Cristobal arrived at Miami, the Canes have amped up their pursuit of Clemson's lone 2023 commit WR Nathaniel Joseph. New wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon has been trying to get Joseph to visit, but so far the wideout has held firm in his commitment to Clemson and has been upfront with the Tigers' coaching staff about the development. Alabama, Florida State and West Virginia all continue to recruit the speedy wide receiver out of the Miami area. Just something to keep an eye on going forward.

2023 OL target Luke Montgomery will not be on hand for Clemson's Elite Junior Day on January 29 as originally planned. Montgomery will visit Notre Dame that day instead. Don't take this as a sign that Clemson is out of the running, though. This sounds more like a logistics thing more than anything else. Montgomery also plays basketball and has a game that Friday night. South Bend is much closer to his Ohio home than the upstate of South Carolina, and visiting Clemson would mean having to miss his basketball game. Montgomery will now look to visit Clemson in the spring.

Clemson will likely look to take a minimum of four offensive linemen in 20223 and two of the other top targets are scheduled to attend the Elite Junior Day as Monroe Freeling and Markee Anderson are both set to be on hand.
