Monday Recruiting Notes

The biggest news of the weekend was Clemson commit Keon Sabb showing up at Michigan for their matchup with the Buckeyes. Sabb maintains that he was there supporting some friends that play for the Wolverines and that he is still fully committed to Clemson, but there is a lot of confidence in Ann Arbor that a flip is imminent. NIL potential is playing a huge part in Sabb being receptive to the pitch, along with a promise of early playing time. Not that he couldn't see the field early in Clemson. There is still a little more than two weeks before early signing day, so the staff has some time to get Sabb fully back on board, or pursue someone else to fill that spot, depending on how things play out. Not having to prepare for an ACCCG this weekend gives the coaches even more time than they would normally have.

Early Sunday I said that WR target Antonio Williams was not able to get to Auburn for the Iron Bowl on Saturday, but that was not the case. He was in fact on hand. With him playing for a state title next weekend and ESD coming up, it might not be possible to get Williams back to campus for an official visit, although the two sides are working to make it happen. If they can't work that out, Dabo Swinney's in-home visit could be the only in-person opportunity he has to make a final pitch.

RB target Trevor Etienne was in Gainesville on Saturday for the Gators' win over FSU. What was supposed to be an official visit became an unofficial visit. After the firing of Dan Mullen all officials were canceled. How much Mullen's firing plays into Etienne's decision is hard to know but Etienne's strongest relationship on the coaching staff is with running backs coach Greg Knox, who was named interim coach in Mullen's place until Billy Napier takes over. Etienne will take an official to Clemson before ESD but he isn't planning to sign until February.

With all the coaching shifts going on with LSU and UF I think our chances of landing him go up greatly!
Hope that's right. Probably a big reason why he's continuing to delay his decision, too. So, depending on who is where when the carousel stops spinning, he may be impressed with some new coaches somewhere.
