Just thinking about how there hasn't been much said about the change from Will Spiers to whomever (Jackson Smith or other?) this fall. Seems to me that Spiers was extremely important in our defensive capability to hold on to leads in all of those close games. Not claiming to know much about punting, but I was constantly expecting the worst outcome from all of those third down conversion issues. TV shots made me wince at how close the rushers came. Spiers didn't appear to have a cannon leg or Dale Hatcher hang time, but time and again the other team took over on their side of the field. I can't say there were no shanks, but I don't remember one.
Pressure on the punter by Ga Tech might turn our Labor Day game upside down if we haven't given it enough attention by opening night or a young guy gets the yips. Hope not!
