2023 DL AJ Hoffler has long maintained that he would make a commitment later this summer, telling All Clemson on multiple occasions that it would likely come on his birthday, which is in August. Late last week, though, Hoffler hinted at something big coming on Tuesday, which is his mother's birthday. Could it be a commitment or something else concerning his recruitment?

For a long while, Hoffler was considered a strong Ohio State lean. However, he made multiple spring visits to Clemson, with his mother making the trip more than once. The tide started to swing in the Tigers' favor. After the first two visits, Clemson had already made up considerable ground.

"Definitely. I'd say probably up there in my top two, if not tied for one," Hoffler told All Clemson regarding where the Tigers stood with regards to Ohio State in his recruitment.

Two more visits took place after that interview, including an official that first weekend in June. There is still one official on the books, as Hoffler is scheduled to visit North Carolina this weekend. Whether that visit takes place remains to be seen, but even if it does, the Heels would have to move mountains to really get into this thing. Again, we'll see if he even makes it to Chapel Hill.

Whether Hoffler announces tomorrow, next week, or waits until August, we're making the projection now.
